ในที่สุด Sony เปิดตัว PlayStation 5 ทางการหลังจากที่ปล่อยให้เราเห็นเฉพาะตัวจอย DualSense controller มาพอสมควร โดย PlayStation 5 มีให้เลือกด้วยกัน 2 เวอร์ชั่นก็คือ Standard Edition ที่มาพร้อมกับช่องใส่แผ่น Blu-ray และ Digital Edition ที่ตัดช่อง Blu-ray ออกตัวเครื่องบางกว่าและมีราคาที่ถูกกว่า ออกแบบมาเพื่อซื้อเกมแบบ Digital Download โดยเฉพาะ
ทั้ง 2 รุ่นยังคงมีดีไซน์สุดล้ำสีขาวตัดดำแลดูเป็นเครื่องเกมแห่งอนาคต นอกจากนี้ Sony ยังได้เปิดตัวอุปกรณ์เสริมของ PlayStation 5 มาแบบจัดเต็มไม่ว่าจะเป็นกล้อง PS HD Camera, หูฟัง Pulse 3D Wireless ที่มาพร้อมระบบตัดเสียงรบกวน และ Media Remote สำหรับใช้งานเครื่อง PlayStation 5 ในแบบรูปเครื่องเล่น Blu-Ray
โดยทาง Sony ยังคงไม่ประกาศราคาทางการออกมา คาดว่าจะมีรายละเอียดทยอยตามออกมาภายในปีนี้ ซึ่งก่อนจะเปิดตัวทางการก็มีราคาหลุดออกมาแล้วจาก Amazon ในรุ่นความจุ 2TB
